Fire Damage - Safety:
Safety is of upmost importance, follow the below guidelines carefully.
In the event of a fire damage disaster, the first goal is that of the safety of humans and animals.
- In a life-threatening situation or if the structure is still on fire, immediately call 911.
- Make a head count of all animals and humans and ensure everyones safety.
- Wait for the fire department to give the all clear to enter the property.
- If the structure is not safe, do not enter, make immediate plans for shelter.
- Shut off the main circuit breaker. (Do not go near the breaker if it requires you to stand in water)
- Shut off natural gas supply lines. (Usually near the main gas meter)
- Turn off the main water supply. (Typically in crawlspace or on water meter outside you property)
